Purple hair

Today I am coloring my hair purple.... at home, by myself. I picked up the color on a whim yesterday at a Tom Thumb. When I got home, I watched some reviews on YouTube. I noted that it doesn’t always work so well on darker hair or gray and that anything longer than shoulder length would need at least two bottles. All in all, the reviewers were no too happy with the results but I figured what the heck?

So, I swung by CVS to grab another bottle on my way to pick up the kids from school. I sit here now waiting for the timer to go off and rinse out the color not knowing if I will look like a clown or what?! My stylist has done colors similar before but since her move to a new salon, she has outpriced me. I have colored my hair before but never an unnatural color. Usually red or gone lighter blonde.

It is a Thursday, I need to run some errands. School has about a month left. I don’t work and all my children are school age or older. Nothing is stopping me from this color. Except.... I have a Christening in 5 weeks for my niece. Maybe it will look good, maybe it will be gone...

 So I'm not really seeing the purple. I know it's supposed to be done on light hair but I figured it would show up on all that blonde. It is looking like an ashy purplish gray. I did my hair in two layers, the underneath got almost a  full bottle and the blonde ends got most of the second bottle. I did the top of my head knowing that it probably wouldn't cover my gray but a woman can hope??

My hair is definitely darker all over than it was before. The wind is blowing crazy right now outside which was my attempt to get a picture in the sun to see if there was any purple which is the only time I can see it. It's as if it colored half my hair purple and half silver ash. It says it will wash out after a few shampoos. Only time will tell.

I am not a fan of this coloring job for sure.
